I taught watercolour painting and drawing for several years with a local art society, as well as privately. In my first drawing class, I was stopped dead in my tracks by a student’s question, “Why do you create art?” Yes, the process is usually relaxing [being more at the high end of the perfectionism spectrum, creating art has its moments].And the expression of what I feel about the subject usually pleases me. But over the past few tumultuous years, I have come to appreciate much more the calm absorption that comes with creating. And to a far greater extent, I am grateful for the joy that my art brings to others.
This brings me to several testimonials I received when I asked friends and clients to write about my artwork.
The following paintings were sold or gifted to Mary Worel.

From Mary : Kathryn’s paintings captured my heart from the first time I saw one of her exquisite watercolour portraits of a beautiful horse. The detail, the colours! The eyes that looked right into mine. Her work is amazing, whether animals or scenery. From her initial sketches, washes of colour, to the amount of time taken to bring a subject to life, the love poured into every work shows in each finished piece. I am the happy owner of three of her paintings, two were purchases and the third a thank you for giving her carte blanche to create her special blend of magic based on some of my photos that I was truly honoured to provide. Thank you, Kathryn, for sharing your wonderful talent with the world.
Thank YOU, Mary. I will continue this theme in Part 2
